Cross Words

A small interlocking crossword puzzle, built fresh each time you visit. The grid is generated from random dictionary words; the clues are real definitions fetched live from a free dictionary API, so each game is different.

• Click and type — click a cell to focus it, type letters to fill, click the same cell again to flip between Across and Down.
• Keyboard navigation — arrow keys move between cells, Backspace clears and steps back, Tab or Space toggles direction.
• Clue list — definitions are listed under Across and Down. Click a clue to jump straight to its slot; solved clues get struck through automatically.
• Adjustable size — the words slider picks how many entries the grid is built from. Fewer words means a gentler puzzle.
• Mobile support — tapping a cell brings up the soft keyboard so you can solve on a phone too.
